Dr Dyson

Dr. Dyson has held visiting positions at several universities and think-tanks, including the Centre for Military History and the Social Sciences of the German Armed Forces, the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the University of Potsdam.  His research interests lie in the fields of military innovation studies, especially military learning, and European defence cooperation. He is the author of Organisational Learning and the Modern Army (2019), European Defence Cooperation in EU Law and IR Theory (2013, with Theodore Konstadinides), Neoclassical Realism and Defence Reform in post-Cold War Europe (2010) and The Politics of German Defence and Security (2007). Dr Dyson’s research has been funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the Gerda Henkel Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service. He is presently PI for an ESRC-funded project on military learning examining the development of formal organisational learning processes (lessons-learned processes) within the Dutch, Estonian and Portuguese armed forces.
